If money is no problem get the Canon 35mm 1.4 L II which also will work perfect with future Canon bodies (photo and video). I own the Tamron 35mm 1.4 and it's a dream. I might end up with AF problems when buying future Canon bodies but because it's a popular lens Tamron will definitely drop a firmware update if necessary. Since I reviewed the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 last year, I have been hit with a barrage of inquiries as to if it was better to grab the Sigma 35mm f/1.4, the Canon 35mm f/2 IS or spend some real cash and The Samyang 35mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC feels very solid in your hand, even if the outer barrel and the filter thread appear to be made from plastic. Front of the Samyang 35mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC lens alongside the EOS 5D Mark III. The focusing ring is generously wide and has a ridged, rubberised grip band. The original Summilux can’t be bought today for less than $2,000 compared to Canon’s (approximate) price of around $250. (An interesting side note – Leica’s current version, the Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH, is arguably the best 50mm lens on the planet and its price tag of $4,395.00 USD testifies to the claim. The new lens weighs 450g less (640g) than the 35mm F1.2 (1090g), is 25mm shorter, and costs $600 less. It isn’t as compact as the new Sony 35mm F1.4 G Master lens (which is a svelte 524g and is only 96mm long), but it also has the advantage of being $500 cheaper. The size between the two F1.4 options isn’t radically different, and Sigma’s Verdict. The Sony FE 35mm F/1.4 G Master is not Sony's first fast 35mm prime. Remarkably, Sony now makes four 35mm primes for its full frame FE mount mirrorless cameras. One is the relatively plain but affordable Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 and two are Zeiss -badged lenses – the compact Sonnar T* FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA and the hefty Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1. Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Handling and Features. The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 L II USM lens is quite a substantial 760g in weight. It is weather sealed, being resistant to dust and moisture. There is Yep. The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 is exquisitely sharp even wide-open at f/1.4. The center is tack sharp with only a minuscule softening at the corners. At smaller apertures beyond f/2, this lens absolutely shines with virtually no vignetting past that aperture mark as well – virtually zero distortion. AYF1.
